Joe burke was one of Woodend Mills early residents, moving into the mill in 1993. He sadly died in 2007, and we wanted to pay our respects to him, so we decided to make a page in his honour.
Rags to Riches. . . .We are currently developing ideas to showcase the creative talents of Woodend artists, so we have decided to open our studios for the local comunity to access. This will encorage & include people of all ages and there will be various workshops you can get involed in. The event will be based on a theme of 'Re-cycling', and will mainly be staged on the weekend of the 30th & 31st Aug 2008.
If you, your child or Grand parent would be interested in getting involved in this event then please contact us..
In March 2007, due to high demand, Emma decided to open a new purposefully equipped and decorated studio to undertake the boudoir and vintage glamour photography.
Emma’s extremely unique studio is situated in Woodend Mill and her studio is specifically designed to feel like you are walking back in time into a luxury vintage parlour, a stark contrast to the working mill and surrounding rural countryside itself.
Not only does her studio offer the usual studio lighting, but a whole host of backgrounds including vintage wallpapers, satin backdrops, old rustic windows, contemporary metal, mill stone and a range of vintage furniture and props.
Were you, or do you know anyone who may of worked at Woodend Mills in the past? Maybe your Grandparents worked at the Mill in the 40's, 50's or even earler? If so, then please contact us through the contact page or you can phone Chris on 07903 455 388. Our aim is to make a new page for the site featuring Recorded Conversations of ex Mill Workers. These would then be edited as mp3 files and added as POD CASTS including a portrait. We are hoping to capture stories of the past so future generations can listen and understand about their local Heritage before it has all disapeared. We would be very greatful if you could help with this project. Thank You.
